METRASTAT 905 Testing oven
A high performance, fully automatic testing oven, the Metrastat 905 makes it possible, like its predecessors, to expose polymer samples to heat, at constant temperature and for different lengths of time.
But with a difference!
The name of the new feature is Heat Loss Compensation (HLC), a radio driven temperature control system, the three main advantages of which are the following:
- it shortens considerably the preheating time necessary for the samples to reach the test temperature before emerging progressively from the oven
- it starts automatically each test after the shortest possible preheating time
- it ensures that, as the samples are gradually coming out of the oven, their temperature remains the same, as long as possible, and this regardless of the test duration.
Furthermore, a multi zone heating bloc ensures a straight heat distribution across the width of a carrying frame able to accommodate up to 9 samples, each half an inch wide. All nine samples are baked simultaneously on nine separate, extra light and corrosion resistant titanium carrying trays held on the frame. This system allows the accurate optical comparison of all nine samples after a test.
Each tray can hold powders and pellets or be fitted with clamps to hold flat samples.
A range of test durations from one minute to up to three months enables the user to carry out either short stability tests on particularily heat sensitive polymers such as PVC, PVDF, etc., or long term ageing tests on a variety of other industrial polymers such as PE, PP, etc.
An exhaust system with built-in hydrogen chloride filter is fully integrated in the instrument and a portable HCl gas detector is a standard accessory.
Finally, the fact that the Metrastat 905 comes to a complete rest at the end of each test makes it essentially an energy saving apparatus.
