OPERATING PRINCIPLE

Five “TRUE COLOR” photodetectors read up to five samples, under either white or ultraviolet light after they have been baked in the METRASTAT 905 heat stability testing oven.

Any color change or fluorescence increase, occurring during degradation, is consigned in an application software as an image and a complete set of CIE L*a*b* values.

After having been baked simultaneously in the METRASTAT 905 oven on a special carrying frame holding five separate but wider titanium carrying trays, up to 5 samples, all one inch wide, can be scanned simultaneously on the multiple track FLUOSCAN reflectometer.

The 5 captors of the apparatus operate in two separate modes of photoexcitation, one under white light illumination, the other under UV light illumination.
In either one of these two modes, the scanning reflectometer generates, on its integrated touch screen, a scaled image showing the progression of color change or fluorescence increase in each sample.
It also delivers the following color curves in the CIE L*a*b* color space as well as other useful parameters:

- b* (<0) Blueing Curve

An application software (FluoScan 3.0) processes data collected from the reflectometer on an external, dedicated, computer. On screen and as exportable format, it delivers images, tables and discoloration curves in all three co-ordinates of the CIE L*a*b* color space.
